2022/08/03
From December 3 to 4, the 5th Shandong Province Intelligent Manufacturing (Industry 4.0) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, along with the "Intelligent Manufacturing in Qilu" Dongying Forum Summit, was held in Dongying District, Dongying City. The event was organized by the Shandong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, the Office of the Cybersecurity and Informatization Commission of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Shandong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, the Communist Youth League Shandong Provincial Committee, the Shandong Provincial Association for Science and Technology, and the Shandong Electronics Society. Co-organized by the Dongying Municipal People's Government, it was jointly hosted by the Dongying Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, the Dongying Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, and the Dongying District People's Government. This initiative underscores the province's commitment to earnestly implementing the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, while actively advancing efforts to build a manufacturing powerhouse and transform Shandong into a digitally driven province.

On the afternoon of the 3rd, 88 projects from 12 cities across the province competed in the final round on-site. The finals featured a presentation format using PPTs, followed by Q&A sessions with the judges. Through rigorous evaluation of each project based on its innovation, completeness, practical applicability, and industry potential, Sanhuali Company’s “Research and Application Project for the 3FT Multi-functional Intelligent Fire Hydrant” earned second place. This competition has successfully identified and nurtured a group of pioneering innovation and entrepreneurship teams and talent leading the way in smart manufacturing, while also accelerating the commercialization and adoption of cutting-edge technologies, products, and business models. As a result, it has become a vital catalyst for driving the transformation, upgrading, and efficiency enhancement of China’s manufacturing sector—and an essential tool for supporting local regions in their economic restructuring and fostering high-quality, sustainable growth.

"Introduction to the '3FT Multifunctional Smart Fire Hydrant Research and Application Project' by Sanhuoli"
[R&D Background] “Production safety is heavier than Mount Tai.” As cities continue to grow and expand, traditional firefighting systems can no longer keep pace with urban development needs. Issues such as freezing and bursting of equipment, water leaks caused by collisions, low pressure leading to inadequate water flow, and outdated levels of smart technology have increasingly exposed hidden safety risks, putting greater strain on fire management and emergency response efforts. Meanwhile, the growing number of fires triggered by outdated firefighting technologies has resulted in significant loss of life and property. Across the country, upgrading and modernizing municipal fire protection systems, logistics facilities, petrochemical plants, and even forest firefighting infrastructure has become an urgent priority. In recent years, national authorities have placed heightened emphasis on fire safety, introducing multiple laws and regulations to elevate “smart firefighting” initiatives to a strategic level. This drive toward hardware and technological advancements in firefighting equipment—leveraging IoT, big data, and AI—holds immense potential to propel the industry forward and enhance overall safety standards.

[Core Technology] Driven by policy guidance and addressing critical industry needs, Sanhuali's technical team has successfully developed advanced fluid dynamics systems—such as "turbocharging," "swirl-siphon," and "vacuum negative pressure"—after years of dedicated research. These systems deliver core functionalities like "freeze protection, theft prevention, collision resistance, and pressure regulation." Building on this innovation, the team integrated IoT technology to create the "3FT Multi-Functional Intelligent Fire Hydrant," a fully intelligent solution equipped with "sense, transmit, perceive, and act" capabilities. This cutting-edge system enables remote monitoring and management features—including vacuum-based freeze protection, anti-collision and leak-proof mechanisms, theft detection, automatic pressure boosting, real-time status monitoring, intelligent analysis, precise execution, and proactive alerting—achieving a domestically leading level of performance. Moreover, the project’s key technologies have reached internationally advanced standards.

[Addressed Pain Points] It thoroughly addresses critical issues plaguing traditional fire hydrants, such as their vulnerability to freezing, lack of protection against collisions and theft, low water pressure leading to insufficient flow, numerous blind spots that are hard to detect, limited smart capabilities, high safety risks, and significant management challenges. By upgrading the device's hardware technology and integrating IoT solutions, this product creates a highly sensitive fire-fighting infrastructure environment, enabling "real-time, dynamic, interactive, and integrated" collection, transmission, and processing of fire-related data. This innovation comprehensively enhances fire management practices, significantly boosting the ability to effectively command, coordinate, make decisions, and respond during emergency firefighting and rescue operations.

[Application Areas and Industrialization Prospects] The product can be widely applied across multiple sectors, including petrochemicals, municipal fire protection, commercial logistics, and forest firefighting. It holds significant practical value for building safety infrastructure in areas such as smart chemical plants, intelligent pharmaceutical facilities, smart communities, and advanced fire management systems. Amidst the government’s strong push to develop "smart firefighting," the domestic smart fire protection market is expanding at a rapid pace of 25% annually, with the national market expected to surpass 4 trillion yuan in size.

[Success Stories and Social Impact] Currently, the company has established more than 30 demonstration sites across the country. After being implemented, the products have earned recognition from both users and experts, providing a reliable safeguard for public fire safety. This marks a true shift toward intelligent, technology-driven solutions—moving seamlessly from "traditional firefighting" to "smart fire prevention and extinguishing." As these innovative products continue to gain wider adoption, they are poised to deliver significant economic benefits as well as substantial social advantages.
